Treat
Privacy Policy

How we handle your information.

Effective date: August 1, 2026

Argos Bio, Inc., doing business as Treat Bio (“Treat,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operates treatx.bio and the services offered on it (the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to pet parents who join studies through Treat (“Pet Parents”) and to companies who use Treat to design or run a study (“Partners”).

By using our Services, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Services.

Who we are

Treat is operated by Argos Bio, Inc., a Delaware corporation. Our Services are currently US-based: we recruit and run studies with pets located in the United States. Some of our Partners are based outside the US, but the data we collect and the work we do happens in the US.

Information we collect

From Pet Parents:

  • Contact information: name, email address, mailing address (to ship study kits)
  • Information about your pet: species, breed, age, diet, weight, health history, and any specific concerns you tell us about
  • Photos of your pet
  • Survey responses and other information you submit as part of a study
  • Health and biometric data collected during a study: wearable device data, bloodwork, urine, fecal, and microbiome test results, and similar clinical data, depending on what a specific study involves

From Partners:

  • Contact information: name, work email, company name
  • Information you submit through our proposal builder: study parameters, budget, timeline, and any other details about the study you're scoping

Automatically, from anyone who visits our site:

  • Usage data collected through analytics tools (for example, which pages you visit and which buttons you click), so we can understand how people use the site and improve it. We use this for our own internal purposes; we don't sell it or share it with advertisers.

How we use this information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Match Pet Parents to studies they and their pets are eligible for
  • Run and coordinate studies: communicate with you, ship kits, collect and process results
  • Communicate with Partners about study proposals and scope
  • Improve our own systems, research methods, and services (internal R&D)
  • Keep pets on file so we can reach out about future studies they might qualify for

How we share information

  • With study sponsors (our Partners): data we share with the company sponsoring a study is anonymized, unless a specific study says otherwise. If a study does involve sharing identifiable information (for example, a study that gives you personalized feedback), that's spelled out in that study's own terms, which you'll see before you join.
  • With service providers: we work with vendors who help us run our business (for example, hosting, email delivery, and analytics providers). They only access what they need to do that work.
  • We do not sell your personal information, to anyone, ever.
  • If required by law: we may disclose information if we're legally required to.

Data we collect is owned by Treat and used to run and improve our own services and research; it isn't a product we sell.

How long we keep your information

We keep Pet Parent information indefinitely so we can match your pet to future studies. If you'd like us to remove your information, email us (see Contact, below) and we'll remove your identifiable personal data. Note that we can't delete raw biological or lab data that's already been generated as part of a completed study; that data has already been de-identified and processed as part of the scientific record.

Your choices

  • Withdraw from a study: you can withdraw your pet from any study at any time. Each study's own terms cover the specifics of what that means for that study.
  • Remove your data: email us and we'll delete your identifiable personal information. This doesn't include already-collected, de-identified biological or lab data tied to a completed study.
  • California and other state privacy rights: depending on where you live, you may have rights to know what personal information we have about you, request its deletion, or correct it. We don't sell personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of there. Contact us to make a request.

Cookies and analytics

We use analytics tools on our site to understand how visitors use it (for example, which pages and buttons get used) so we can improve the experience. This data is used internally only: we don't use it for advertising and we don't share it with ad networks. You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Children's privacy

Our Services are intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to join the waitlist, sign up your pet, or submit a study proposal.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of storing or transmitting data is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new effective date.
